Waging the war on moth plants in 2024!

Moth Plant is one of Auckland’s most noxious weeds. It can grow up to 8 metres high, has a sticky white sap which is a common irritant and smothers native vegetation.

In 2023, Wiri Business partnered with New Zealand Biosecurity Services Limited (NZBSL) to remove 7025 moth plants from the business district. Over 1000 pods alone were collected at BLENNZ Homai Campus!

We are partnering with NZBSL again in 2024 to help remove moth plant from our midst. NZBSL will approach Wiri businesses where Moth plant may be prevalent and gain permission to remove the plants there and then. We ask for the cooperation of our local businesses to help rid this pest from our environment.
