General Manager’s Update – December 2024

The end of the 2024 is fast approaching and it’s certainly been a busy year for Wiri Business.

To recap, we’ve held Networking Breakfasts with Hayden Paddon and Buck Shelford, Networking drinks at Woodside, Business After 5 events with MotorShare and The Sebel, four first aid courses, Business Continuity Planning training, celebrated International Women’s Day, monthly coffee van visits, coffee with a cop and two volunteer clean ups.

Our security providers P4G have continued to patrol our streets in the evening, seven days a week. Crime Watch has installed an additional 20 cameras in our business district and we introduced AI monitoring of these assets.

Ensuring our district looks clean and tidy to do business is essential, so we have continued to facilitate lawnmowing and rubbish collections in problem spots.

We have been focussed on dangerous truck parking, promoting youth employment and gathering data on transport solutions in Wiri – and will continue these focuses in the new year.

Looking Ahead to 2025

Mark your calendars for our first After 5 networking event of the year on Thursday, January 30th at OffShoot.

We’re excited to bring you our first networking breakfast on March 4th, featuring guest speaker Jehan Casinader, expert in communications and storytelling.

To celebrate International Women’s day, on March 12th we invite women working at Wiri businesses to join us for an indulgent evening of cupcakes and cocktails!

We’ll be introducing Lunch and Learn sessions in 2025 to help you do better in business, covering topics such as social media, leadership, accounting and health & safety.

First Aid courses will continue with a new local provider Safety in Action, and we’re introducing monthly executive lunches to engage with our larger businesses.

Our offices will be shut from Monday 23rd December and the team will be back on Monday 13th January. P4G will be doing increased patrolling over the Christmas and New Year period to keep our area safe.

On behalf of the Wiri Board and team, I’d like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season!
