Meet the Wiri Business Board

At our recent AGM, six new board members were elected. Our Board come from a vast range of backgrounds, experience and industries. Learn a bit more about where they work, what they do, what experience they bring to the board table and how they are looking forward to contributing to our business community

Alex Davidson (Business Development Advisor, HydroVac Ltd)

I am an experienced business leader specializing in strategic growth, operational excellence, and business development. With a proven track record across diverse sectors including civil projects, automotive, and property development, I drive substantial revenue growth. My expertise in leadership, market expansion, and client relations makes me a valuable asset to any board or business, committed to fostering sustainable success and innovation.

I look forward to driving sustainable economic growth, fostering collaboration among local businesses, and enhancing the Wiri’s reputation as a thriving business hub. My goal is to help create new opportunities for business expansion, advocate for infrastructure and community improvements, and support initiatives that enhance the district’s competitiveness. I am committed to leveraging my experience to strengthen the community and promote long-term success for all stakeholders.

Brett Jones (Transport and Logistics Manager, Grayson Engineering)

I am active member of the National road Carrier Association, which is focussed on the transport network issues facing South Auckland. I’m keen to continue the focus on truck parking in Wiri and look forward to using my experience to make Wiri business district a great place to do business.

Daniel Berry (Managing Director, Dalton Electrical)

I find one of the most rewarding parts of my role is being involved in the training and development of our many apprentices and young tradespeople, seeing them grow and build thriving careers, I hope to bring some of this passion for training to the WBA board.

I have recently gained chartered membership status with the NZ Institute of Directors and find this membership useful for keeping up to date with governance issues and professional development.

Dave Pizzini (Independent member, representing BR Two Limited)

I have been a member of WBA Board since 2018, with the last two years as Chairperson.

I have a vast range of experience including five years as an elected member of the Manurewa Local Board and eight years as Auckland Region Director of the New Zealand Police Association (awarded Life Membership in 2016).

With 44 years criminal investigation and security experience and as the Co-Director and a licensed private investigator at Veritas Investigations Limited, I have a particular passion for small business, crime and security. I look forward to contributing to making Wiri the best district in New Zealand for doing business.

Gareth Brown (Careers & Employment Manager, Skills Ignite)

I am passionate about education, community engagement, and making a meaningful difference.  With previous board experience and strong partnerships across industry and community sectors, I am excited to help Wiri become a connected thriving business community.

I aim to drive local networking, career development and training opportunities while prioritising business growth, sustainability, and a people-first approach. Through partnerships, I look forward to fostering community pride and environmental care to support Wiri’s success.

Jeanette Brown (Building owner, W J E Holdings)

I have owned a business and building in the Wiri area since 2009 and have been involved with the Wiri Business Association because of that.

Over the years I have attended several of the events and first aid courses that have been on offer and have found these useful for networking and gaining skills. I continue to encourage other businesses in the area to get involved and attend events/courses.

Being on the Board is my way of giving back to the business community and I aim to offer insight into things the Association can do to help/assist businesses with issues that affect them.

Jeremy Young (Northern Regional Manager, JJ’s Waste & Recycling)

Having been part of the Wiri Business association for the last year, I have been impressed by the team’s ability to bring organizations from across industries and institutions together to network and learn. Having benefited from some of these relationships in our own business, I see the potential this business association has to grow and continue to add value for both businesses and our local community through creating real opportunities, particularly for our youth.

I have experience working in diverse environments, finding solutions to complex problems. My interests in people and building connections, allows me to create collaborative environments capable of bringing great ideas to the table.

I see great opportunity given our proximity to key infrastructure and housing to create a thriving business environment that supports growth and connection with our local communities.

Tania Hemy-Bell (Customer Services & Marketing, Stockwell International)

I am passionate about our local area and know that many great people in the area feel the same way. I grew up, went to school, and live in the suburbs just next door. I have grandchildren growing up in the area, and I would like to know that I can make a difference in helping them grow up in a safe and clean environment. Now I am also working in the area I can see a great future for it after seeing what the WBA have already been doing.

I want to give back to the community myself through being a board member. I am excited about the opportunity to work with other board members and make a difference.
