Meet our new neighbours: Future Skills opens new youth campus
Getting started on the right path in your career is key and training institute, Future Skills, is there to help.
Future Skills has been in expansion mode and has recently launched its new youth campus at a purpose-built faculty based on 10B Earl Richardson Road (next door to Wiri Business Association).
The opening of the building marks a return by Future Skills to its roots when it occupied premises at number 5 and 15 on that same road.
The approximately 1,500 sq m building will host a range of programmes targeted at the 16-24 years old youth market. There are three classrooms and a trades training facility for hospitality (barista, cookery and baking) kitchen manufacturing and engineering courses.
Head of the new campus Fia Wilson says the faculty is an exciting development that recognises the need to provide skills training for young people particularly in the South Auckland area.

“We’ve kickstarted the faculty with two new courses – one in hospitality and the other in kitchen manufacturing – primarily aimed at this age group,” says Fia.
“At the end of the courses, attendees will be better equipped to get a job in their respective field of study. We also have a dedicated student support team who assist the graduates with job applications at the end of the course.”
The youth campus will also feature workshops, mentorship programmes, and community engagement initiatives designed to empower young people with essential skills and confidence.
“Future Skills is committed to fostering a supportive learning environment that encourages personal and professional growth.”
In addition to these offerings, the campus aims to collaborate with local businesses, Iwi and organisations, creating pathways for young people as well as internships and work placements that enhance real-world experience.
“Future Skills believes in equipping the next generation with the tools they need to succeed, making a positive impact in their communities and beyond” says Fia.
