Wiri Business Welcomes Global Security as New Security Patrol Partner
Creating a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for local businesses is a top priority for the Wiri Business Association (WBA). As part of its commitment to maintaining a thriving business district, WBA recently undertook a competitive selection process to find a new security patrol provider. After shortlisting six potential candidates, WBA is proud to announce its new partnership with Global Security.
To gain insight into what this new partnership means for Wiri, WiriLink sat down with Nathan Cray, General Manager – Operations at Global Security, to learn more about the company, its approach to security, and how they plan to support the Wiri community.
Global Security is a proudly New Zealand-owned and operated business that began its journey in 2006. Originally focused on alarm monitoring, the company has since expanded through strategic acquisitions to offer a full suite of manned and electronic security services.
Today, Global Security services clients nationwide including large organisations such as Bupa aged care, Bridgestone, and Air New Zealand.
“We’re small enough to care but big enough to offer a competitive advantage,” says Nathan.
Global Security provides a broad range of services, including patrols, guards, alarm monitoring, CCTV, access control, and integration with building management systems. Their approach is both people-focused and technology-driven.
They use a bespoke electronic platform that provides daily reports and tracks the physical movements of patrol staff using NFC tags placed strategically around Wiri. This ensures thorough street-by-street coverage. In addition, GPS vehicle tracking via the Car Track system allows for route playback and performance monitoring.
Security personnel welfare is also a high priority, with automated checks conducted electronically every 30 minutes, and phone call made if there is a missed alert.
Global Security isn’t just about physical presence it’s about intelligent, meaningful engagement.
“We focus on every granular bit of everything we do, from how we report and recruit to how we engage and manage our team. Everything has a purpose.”
This attention to detail enables the company to deliver a service that’s not only effective but also deeply aligned with client needs.
“We want to make sure that what we’re doing is genuinely solving the problem we were hired to fix. We have intelligence-led conversations that allow us to make smart, holistic decisions with long-term benefits.”
This includes identifying trends such as truck parking issues or rubbish dumping and providing proactive insights and suggestions to WBA to help address these challenges.
With Global Security now patrolling the district, WBA encourages all members to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the Wiri Business security line at 09 262 0333.
