One of our key focusses is on crime prevention and security of our local business district. We want to ensure everyone feels safe to work and do business in Wiri.

Calling Police

Which number to call

Call 111 if it’s an emergency or there is an offender present

Call 105 for the Crime Reporting Line for non-emergencies and after the event

Call 0800 555 111 for Crime Stoppers – give information without revealing your identity

Information needed when calling the Police

– Where and when the incident occurred

– What happened

– Description of the person and of the vehicle the offender(s) left in

A Language Line is available when you phone the Police – If you do not speak English, an interpreter is available Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm and Saturday 9am to 2pm. Please ask for this when you are phoning Police.

Report to us

It is important to report criminal activity in our area – it helps with police intelligence and drives the allocation of resources and patrols to the Wiri area.

Stolen Vehicles

Stolen vehicles – you can check if a vehicle is stolen on the Police website by entering an individual registration number, or an individual VIN, chassis or engine number (useful for scrap metal dealers and auto dismantlers).

How we keep our district safe

Security Patrols

Wiri Business partners with Global Security to provide nightly patrols, seven days a week, across the district. Unlike standard models where response times can exceed 40 minutes, our precinct approach ensures a constant local presence. This significantly improves response times, deters crime, and supports more effective police investigations.

CCTV Cameras

Over the past few years Wiri Business has established a network of CCTV cameras around the Business District. These cameras, which include automatic number plate Recognition cameras, are monitored through CrimeWatch and are connected directly to the Police 111 network. Our network is designed to help us with crime prevention and give the Police visibility in real time for any incidents in the area.
