More buses, new routes, better connections for South Auckland

In late April, Auckland Transport rolled out additional bus services with new routes, improved frequencies and earlier and later trips making it easier to get where you need to go.

This is a great initial step, especially given the high fuel prices, to help connect people to businesses in our district.

Wiri Business would like to see further investment and improvements to public transport in our area including a greater coverage of the business district during key commute times and exploring the reopening of the Wiri Station Road Train Station.

If you have any feedback on how your staff use public transport and how Wiri Business can advocate on your behalf, contact in**@*********rg.nz.

New routes launching

  • Route 37: Manurewa to Highbrook via Puhinui
This new frequent route will run through Wiri, Weymouth Road, Roscommon Road, Puhinui Road, Preston Road, Springs Road and East Tamaki Road, providing a strong new connection across South and East Auckland.
Buses will run every 15 minutes from 7am to 7pm, and every 30 minutes at other times, seven days a week.
  • Route 39 Manurewa to Otara via Clendon Park and Manukau
Route 39 replaces the existing 361, following the same route, roads and bus stops, just with a new number. As a two‑digit route, it signals a step up to 15‑minute services during the day, making it simpler and more reliable to use.
  • Route 364: Manurewa to Papakura via Conifer Grove
A new direct option for travel between Manurewa and Papakura, improving access for people in Conifer Grove.

Route improvements

Some existing routes are also being adjusted to better match how people travel:

  • Route 362: Weymouth to Manukau
This service will now run the full length of Wordsworth Road, no longer using Rowandale Avenue. Evening services will also run more frequently, improving late‑day travel options.

More frequent and longer hours

Several popular routes are getting timetable upgrades, bringing shorter waits and longer operating hours:

  • Route 33: Papakura Station to Ōtāhuhu Station (via Great South Road)
Evening services improve from every 30 minutes to every 15 minutes, making cross‑South Auckland travel easier after peak hours.
  • Route 363: Wattle Downs loop
Earlier and later trips are being added, with buses running every 30 minutes.
  • Route 366: Manurewa Interchange to Manukau Station (via The Gardens)
Evening services improve to every 30 minutes, with earlier and later weekend trips.
