From the GM's desk - Spring 2026

It’s been a productive few months for the precinct, and I want to bring our local businesses up to speed on where things stand.

Truck parking enforcement remains our top priority. With the Transport Governance Amendment Bill now through, enforcement powers are moving from Auckland Transport to Auckland Council. We’re pivoting our advocacy accordingly.

As previously reported, Wiri has been confirmed as the primary case study for the Future Urban Industry project, a $9 million MBIE-funded research programme led by the University of Auckland that’s building a Digital Twin of our precinct, a world first for an industrial district. It’s a genuine opportunity to shape how Wiri’s land and infrastructure are planned for the next decade, and we’re still looking for businesses willing to take part. If that’s of interest, get in touch with the office.

We’re also positioning Wiri on the international stage. Following study visits to Dublin, Belfast and London earlier this year, WBA is developing plans to co-host the IDA World Towns Leadership Summit in Auckland in 2027, showcasing our industrial precinct model to delegates from around the world.

There’s plenty on the events calendar over the coming months, so keep an eye on WiriLink and our emails for details. And mark your diary now for our AGM, Wednesday 21 October.

None of this happens without the team behind it. Diana and Michelle have been out engaging directly with businesses across the precinct, and that work continues.

As always, if you’ve got questions about any of this, my door’s open.
