A note from our GM - Autumn 2025

We hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing and festive holiday season following our successful Christmas celebration at Vector Wero Whitewater Park in early December. It was fantastic to see so many of our members celebrating together.
We’ve kicked off 2025 with a focus on providing valuable resources and networking opportunities for our Wiri businesses. Our new Lunch and Learn series began in February with a session focused on social media strategies, a crucial tool for businesses in today’s digital landscape. We have a range of other Lunch and Learn sessions planned throughout the year covering topics based on your feedback, so keep an eye out for upcoming announcements. Our Business After 5 events are also back in full swing, with our January gathering at OffShoot proving a popular start to the year.
To celebrate International Women’s Day on March 12th, we’re delighted to invite the women of Wiri to an evening of indulgence with cupcakes and cocktails. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect, celebrate, and network with other women in our business community.
We continue to advocate for our members on important local issues. Work is progressing on the ongoing challenge of truck parking in the area. We are currently organizing a meeting with Auckland Transport in the next couple of months to bring affected businesses together to explore potential solutions.
Looking ahead, we’re also exploring the feasibility of reopening the Wiri Station on Wiri Station Road (between Homai and Puhinui stations). Given the significant increase in the Wiri workforce since its closure approximately 20 years ago (around 2005), we believe it’s worth investigating whether reopening the station could benefit our community. We would greatly appreciate any feedback you have on this idea, including any historical information regarding the station’s original closure.
We encourage you to enjoy this issue of Wiri-Link and take advantage of the various events and opportunities available to our members. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming gatherings!
