GM Column - Spring 2025

As we head into the final stretch of the year, I’m pleased to update you on some of the exciting developments and initiatives underway in the Wiri Business District.

Our Annual General Meeting is just around the corner, taking place on Thursday, 23rd October. I encourage all members to attend; this is your chance to be part of the conversation, share your views, and contribute to the future direction of our business community. For more information about our AGM and becoming a member of the Wiri Business Board, email ga**@*********rg.nz.

One of the ongoing issues in our area has been truck parking, and I’m happy to report that our efforts are delivering results. Thanks to consistent reporting and engagement with Auckland Transport, over 850 infringement notices have been issued. This is a significant step forward in improving safety and accessibility in our district.

We’ve now had two successful months working with our new security partner, Global Security. The feedback has been positive, and their presence is making a real difference. To find out more about this partnership, click this link.

We’re also pleased to be engaging the amazing team at will&able, a social enterprise providing employment opportunities for people with disabilities. You’ll start to see them around Wiri delivering issues of WiriLink quarterly and helping with regular street clean-ups. If you see them out and about, don’t forget to say hello and give them a wave!

Last month, we wrapped up The Great Wiri Business Café & Lunch Bar Competition – a fantastic initiative that saw 17 local eateries go head-to-head to showcase the best of what Wiri has to offer. Thank you to everyone who supported their favourites.

We’re proud of the progress being made and remain committed to making Wiri a thriving, safe, and connected place to do business.
